Project Insight – The Edge

From my time here in Spain I have always wondered if and when a truly iconic project would ever come to fruition on the Costa del Sol and here it is, ‘The Edge’ from Kronos Investment – is a project deserved of the tag…

Just released to the market ‘The Edge’, near the town of Estepona, has investors clambering over themselves to reserve the best units offering the ideal in dream living…

Not since ‘The World’ has there been so much discussion about an ultra-modern new build until now…. and as that seems to be little more than a set of drawings on the architects drawing board somewhere in Marbella due to its postcode, it seems ‘The Edge’ will indeed be the first of its kind.

It has to be said the design and overall architecture is not only something to be admired but the location it is to be on built is highly sought after, on a stretch of coastline open to new development still offering a front line beach position for modern apartment living….

Overview - Tucked in a privileged position close to the popular town of Estepona the 68 apartments and 2 villas are to be set around 10.000m2 of landscaped gardens and communal pool areas with construction due to start any time soon.

Plans are to deliver a completed complex of high end apartments and penthouses plus the villas by Spring 2019 for the height in exclusive living.

Using only the best materials, the emphasis will be on the glass detail and chrome finishes for a totally contemporary design and as the architect Rafael de la Hoz explains, ‘It’s curved forms envelop us like a wave; its railings, its terraces, its fabric awnings give us the impression of being on a ship stranded on the beach.’

Location - An ideal beach location just outside Estepona town centre close to the marina, shopping district and Sunday street market. Marbella is also only 20 minutes away. For airports you have both Málaga & Gibraltar around an hour away.

Estepona has been able to preserve its traditional Andalusian charm while offering all the key amenities and services of a thriving 21st century resort area. The glamour and sophistication of chic restaurants and designer-brand boutiques, and the outdoor pleasures of a dozen golf courses in close proximity add to the leisure amenities available.

The coastline of sandy beaches runs over 20 kilometres with clear water, with beach bars and restaurants and water-based activities aplenty.

With direct access to the Mediterranean Sea this development has been designed to maximise the views, so that every room has the best vantage point with views of the sea through the large glass windows. Due to the South and South-west orientation of the apartments the constant natural light will only be added to with the reflection of light off the sea.

The apartments have different distributions and measurements of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom model types with ground floor units having their own garden and the penthouses of 3 and 4 bedrooms have large terraces with their own pool and breath taking views to the sea.

Build Schedule – Building licenses have been applied for to begin construction in April 2017 with the project delivery early 2019 and 1st occupation expected to be Spring 2019.

In Summary- The design is truly something special with as much emphasis on the overall interior style as the need for excellent outdoor living space for a high quality finish providing the latest in modern living for the Costa del Sol.

As fairly newcomers to the Costa del Sol, I for one believe this is a bold project but at the same time I cannot wait to see the finished article and for those that are privileged enough to own here I can only envisage a satisfied clientele.
